WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF YOUR PRODUCTS?

All solvent-free epoxies have essentially unlimited shelf lives so long as they are stored in sealed containers. The resin may crystallize or the hardener may darken but this does not affect its performance. If the material is more than a year old do a test to satisfy yourself that it cures properly. We recommend 24 months as a universal shelf life for our products, although we also recommend using the product within a few months prior to any possible material changes.

The hardener oxidizes from oxygen which can discolor it slowly while stored over time. Sometimes the user believes it is not good (hence throwing away). Reality is the material may still be good, but just does not look the same. As always, please test a small amount prior to any large installations. Order more as you need it. We create as we need within our shop and recommend the same for our customers.

The Ultra-Luxe Epoxy Pigment Pastes have a recommended shelf life once opened of 6 months and one year unopened. This does not mean they cannot be used after these time periods, but we suggest testing a small amount prior to any large installations.

HOW DO I PROPERLY STORE UNITY RESIN?

Unity Resin needs to be stored in a dry, safe, temperature-controlled environment.  Always keep the lids tightly sealed when not in use.  Oxygen and moisture oxidize and can rapidly degrade the epoxy and hardener.  Moisture is also a potential
issue.  Always keep the bottles tightly sealed when not in use.  When applying this product, use gloves, goggles, and proper safety equipment. Be sure to keep out of reach of children and pets.

WHAT ARE THE MIXING INSTRUCTIONS FOR UNITY RESIN?

*Please note the ideal working temperature of the room and resin is between 72F-75F.

Be sure to wear the proper protective gear & work in a well- ventilated area.

Mix ratio is exactly 1:1 by volume (1 cup to 1 cup). Using a round container and mixing stick, pour resin into hardener and mix slowly by hand in a circular motion for mins., until unified & clear. Take your time to mix well, carefully scraping sides & bottom. It is recommended to mix a minimum of 2-3 oz.

Let stand for 3 mins to allow bubbles to rise. At this point, colorants can be added & heat source or alcohol spray can be used.

To help avoid your resin from overheating, please begin to pour your resin onto your application directly after these steps.

HOW DO I GET RID OF BUBBLES IN UNITY RESIN?

When it comes to epoxies, bubbles are common. A simple way to eradicate them is by using a heat source like a heat gun or a small torch. Be sure to hold the heating element a few inches away from the resin and do not stay in one spot for too long to avoid burning the epoxy.

PRO TIP: When mixing the epoxy resin and hardener... the more volume of mixture you have in a pot, the more chemical reaction. This creates heat. To reduce the heat, mix the product efficiently within 3-5 minutes and get the mixture out and spread across the project.

The longer it stays in a pot the more heat. More volume = more heat.

More heat will not only create more microbubbles but it can make the cure brittle like glass.

WHAT IS THE IDEAL TEMPERATURE FOR CURING?

To maximize your curing process, it is recommended that the epoxy is cured in areas ranging between 75-100 degrees Fahrenheit.

IS UNITY RESIN FOOD SAFE?

Our epoxy is safe for incidental food contact, and is FDA Compliant, but not FDA approved. Once the epoxy is cured it becomes an inert plastic and it becomes food- safe per FDA code 21CFR175.300, which states "Resinous and polymeric coatings may be safely used as the food-contact surface of articles intended for use in producing, manufacturing, packing, processing, preparing, treating, packaging, transporting, or holding food" and can be used as a "functional barrier between the food and the substrate". We do not recommend eating directly from epoxy resin materials. Do not cut or prepare food on the epoxy surface. The epoxy is not antimicrobial and is not safe to ingest. Please note that if the resin is not mixed correctly and additives are applied, it can affect the integrity and curing properties of the resin.

DO WE SHIP OUTSIDE OF THE UNITED STATES?

Currently, due to the nature of epoxy, we are not able to ship Unity Resin outside of the U.S. We are, however, able to ship our Ultra-Luxe Epoxy Pigment Pastes and Designer Glitters worldwide. Please send us an email at info@unityresin.com, if you should have any questions about shipping.
