Why Is Resin Such an Amazing Form of Artistic Expression?
Epoxy resin is without question one of the most enjoyable and fun artist mediums, that has taken social media, craft fairs, household décor and more by storm these past few years. Prior to the Pandemic, it was a growing and popular form of creative expression, however, when people were stuck at home with nothing to do and nowhere to go, many of them began looking for ways to spend their time more productively and creatively. Some experimented with painting, crafting, fluid art mediums and more. The art form of resin grew exponentially and so many people were instantly hooked!
Working with resin is one of our greatest joys, because it takes us out of our conscience minds where our thoughts and emotions can sometimes overtake us, and provides us with a temporary mental escape, in which one’s trials and tribulations can quickly be forgotten. For those who have worked with resin, many will express the same sentiment and shared experiences. It allows you to be completely in the moment, focusing solely on the project at hand and nothing else. Even if you are just starting out and do not have much experience with resin in a professional sense, it only takes one time to realize the powerful and therapeutic like effect it can have.
Our founder is a lifelong sufferer of mental illness, having struggled with depression, anxiety, derealization and more, and she tried many different approaches to find peace and happiness. Unfortunately, many of them were a waste of time and money, and she found herself back at square one, if not worse. It was a never-ending cycle of doctors, therapists, medications, exercises, positive self-talk and more, that just seemed to all lead to the same dead-end, and she fought endlessly to find a treatment or cure. Unbeknownst to her, it was at one of her lowest points when she began to experiment with acrylic painting that she would discover the art form of resin. She was immediately enthralled and has been ever since! The fluidity and endless creative possibilities that resin provides was so intriguing and unlike anything she ever experienced. It was capturing and fun, and more than anything, it was an escape from the internal dialogue that ran constantly through her mind.
From that very first day, she knew that she needed to spread the message of how powerful and impactful resin art can be. Through Unity Resin’s “Together in Creativity Initiative” it is our mission and goal to raise awareness to those who are suffering from mental illness, that there are other ways one can heal besides the traditional approaches. We believe and support the medical treatments and advancements to help treat this disease, but we also highly encourage the use of creative and artistic expression as an important tool in helping to heal.
We hope to spread this message to as many people as possible and we vow to donate a portion of our annual sales to organizations that resonate with our mission. Let's all come “Together in Creativity” and encourage those who are struggling to experience the power of resin art!
